PROJECT WOK
Stories
Kopkop College is one of the five schools in NCD who is a participant in this Project Wok Program. Having Credit Corporation as the main sponsor, Project Wok is an Australian/PNG non-government organization that is working to help students get some ‘on-the-job training while they are still students in Secondary school, which is a bonus to their Resume.
They take two days (Saturday and Sunday) doing intensive training on how to write a resume or CV and a letter of application. They also do MOCK interviews so as to familiarise themselves with the kind of questions that they would expect in an interview and how they respond to those questions.
Project Wok started in 2022 running a pilot program and KC had four students participate in the program. We now have one of our pioneering students (Martin Ben) from the program, working in the Sales and Marketing Department at Credit Corporation.
This year we sent seventeen students into the program, unfortunately, three students couldn’t make it and only fourteen students graduated from the training program.
They now wait for after national examinations to be given two weeks job placements. This will be November 2023 – January 2024.
