“Our drama performances by the Grade nine students at the annual youth arts program has left them very impressed.”
The plays were scripted and directed by the students on topics such as homosexuality and suicide, Police Brutality and gambling.
Secondary music teacher Joshua Rumbino says hearing creative arts experts, praise Kopkop College, hasmade the school so proud, and as an educator he believes that it is very important to allow kids the space to express themselves.
“The students took lead of all the performances they directed, did the script-writing, the props, the acting…it was a real surprise to see them perform so well amongst Grade 11’s from other schools.”
Kopkop College won the best actress and stage manager at the 2019 Youth Arts Program, and Moresby Arts drama director, Andrew Kuliniasi says Kopkop College remains a contender for this year’s YAP, with winners expected to be announced this week.
