Rody abady
Mrs Roddy Abady has 36 years of teaching experience, and is from East New Britain. She has five children. She started her teaching career in 1985 and has a secondary school diploma from the University of Goroka, the then Goroka Teachers College. She later did flexible learning through Divine Word University, doing a double degree in Religious Education and Education.
She successfully completed a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Waikato, New Zealand from 2014-2015. She began her teaching career in Dregerharfen, Morobe Provice, then on to Malala – Madang. Due to her vast experience in secondary teaching, she was posted to Tusbab secondary to help support the school transition into secondary level. She later went back to Malala in 2003. From 2006 to 2011 she taught at Marianville Secondary and while preparing to take on further studies abroad for her Master’s, she also taught at Paradise High School and Jubilee Catholic Secondary School.
Following her Post-Graduate studies, Mrs Abady last taught at St. Joseph’s Catholic College where she initially under-studied the challenging nature of delivering a dual curriculum, the PNG and the New South Wales in 2017, before becoming a full-time teacher followed by her appointment as the English department Head.
This year, the accomplished Mrs Abady arrives at Kopkop College as the new secondary school principal, who will be responsible for around 40 staff and some 600 students (will confirm numbers later). Its her first role as a secondary school principal, but its certainly not a new experience for the determined Mrs Abady, who loves teaching, learning and taking on challenges and getting everything organized.
The mother of five who has been able to juggle a career in teaching, a mom at home while yet managing to attain a double degree as a flexible learning student, is looking forward to a wonderful year working alongside the staff, parents and students of Kopkop College.
